IndusInd Bank, a private sector lender, reported a 47% increase in net profit for the first quarter, reaching Rs 1,037 crore on July 22. This growth was supported by lower provisions for potential bad loans. In the same period last year, the bank recorded a net profit of Rs 684 crore. Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Anand noted continued focus on disciplined growth, balance sheet strength and franchise quality. The bank is expanding its portfolio across retail, SME and rural segments while investing in technology and AI to improve customer experience and productivity. It achieved a pre-provision operating profit of Rs 2,773 crore with a capital adequacy ratio of 17.15%. Gross non-performing assets stood at 3.25% and net NPAs at 0.95%, compared with 3.64% and 1.12% a year earlier. Net interest income rose slightly to Rs 4,685 crore, with the net interest margin at 3.57%. Shares closed nearly 1% higher at Rs 1,072.
