The Reserve Bank of India left its key interest rate unchanged at 5.25 percent for the fourth consecutive meeting and kept a neutral policy stance, indicating decisions will depend on incoming data. It raised its full-year growth projection to 6.7 percent while trimming the inflation forecast to 5.0 percent. Both manufacturing and services activity expanded in July but at slower rates, with the manufacturing PMI falling to a multi-year low. Banks attracted roughly 28 billion dollars in fresh foreign-currency deposits under a special scheme to support the rupee. Other figures included a drop in kharif sowing, higher apprenticeship targets, a large share sale by Life Insurance Corporation, record LPG use, and an increase in Supreme Court judges. Promoter share pledges edged higher, and India won its fewest Commonwealth Games medals since 1998.
