Three Air India aircraft parked at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport sustained minor damage on Sunday evening from strong winds and rain. Ground equipment struck the planes after being displaced by the weather.
The event occurred around 4:40 p.m. during intense wind and rainfall at the airport. Airport authorities noted that ground personnel were unprepared because no advance warning came from air traffic control.
The affected narrow-body planes were stationed at Terminal 2. Wind pressure caused items like a boarding ladder to shift and impact the aircraft. Reports suggest the harm was limited, and two of the three planes are now prepared for flight.
