Actor and producer Brad Pitt has achieved a partial victory in his extended legal conflict with former wife Angelina Jolie regarding Château Miraval, the French winery they jointly owned and where they married in 2014.
Court documents from Los Angeles County Superior Court indicate that Judge Cindy Pánuco granted part of Pitt’s request to depose several business associates connected to Jolie’s prior stake in the property. This marks the newest development in a high-profile case that began in 2022 and focuses on the transfer of Jolie’s interest in the wine venture.
Pitt and Jolie, whose divorce was finalized in 2019, have continued litigating over the estate in southern France, purchased together in 2008 and valued near $164 million. The property gained prominence as a celebrity-owned winery during their relationship.
The dispute started in February 2022 when Pitt sued, alleging Jolie sold her share to an investment group linked to the Stoli Group without his consent. He claimed the couple had agreed that neither could transfer ownership without mutual approval.
In the recent decision, Judge Pánuco ordered depositions for spirits executive Alexey Oliynik of the Stoli Group board, plus representatives from Tenute Del Mondo and Nouvel. Tenute Del Mondo manages the Stoli wine division, while Nouvel previously held Jolie’s half of Château Miraval.
The companies must provide dates for Oliynik’s testimony and confirm availability for Marina Troyanovskaya, Stoli’s marketing head, by 7 August. However, the judge denied Pitt’s request for sanctions or financial penalties tied to the discovery process.
The ruling stems from a June 2025 filing by Pitt seeking testimony on the winery’s ownership and sale. Earlier this week, the companies objected to the depositions as unnecessary.
The Château Miraval matter has become one of the most contentious elements of Pitt and Jolie’s post-divorce proceedings, extending into business ownership, contracts, and international corporate issues.
