One day after declaring it would operate as a public pressure group instead of a political party, the Cockroach Janta Party announced its first National Working Committee on Thursday. Founder Abhijeet Dipke was named national convener, and the group outlined plans to build its structure nationwide, according to PTI.

The announcement came at a press conference after the party’s core team ended a two-day meeting at Dipke’s home in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

Chief spokesperson Saurav Das and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka were appointed co-conveners. A party statement said the National Working Committee had approved the initial national leadership list.

Over the next six months, the CJP plans to form State Coordination Committees along with Lok Sabha and city-level units across India. No other office-bearers were named beyond those announced.

The named leaders are Abhijeet Dipke (30), national convener; Saurav Das (27) and Ashutosh Ranka (30), co-conveners; Ajinkya Shinde (35), national organisation in-charge; Deepak Baliyan (26), organisation co-in-charge; Aafreen Nawaz (34), national secretary; Vijay Reddi Mallangi (30), media lead; Ratna Singh (31), legal affairs lead; Vaishnavi Gaur (29), research and policy lead; Rohan Deshpande (31), technology lead; and Yogesh Ingale (33), finance lead.

Zonal responsibilities were also assigned for North, South, East and North East, and West India.

Saurav Das said a nationwide membership drive would start via the party’s website, open to students, young professionals and workers. He stressed that no funds were being collected and warned against anyone seeking money in the party’s name.

Das repeated that the CJP would remain a pressure group and not enter electoral politics at present, saying another party would not help and that grassroots work was the priority.

Ashutosh Ranka added that a delegation would soon visit Jharkhand to meet students protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment exams, now in their 13th day with six on indefinite hunger strike.

The party also said it would launch the ‘Kya bolti public’ campaign next month to gather public concerns across India.
