The Diljit Dosanjh film Satluj was taken off ZEE5 on July 5, just two days after its debut on the platform. The movie, which portrays human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, is no longer accessible in India. ZEE5 pointed to recent developments as the cause, stating the title would stay unavailable until further notice while it seeks ways to restore access through proper channels. The film continues to stream internationally via ZEE5 Global. Satluj, previously known as Punjab ’95, centers on Khalra’s work documenting enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Punjab during the 1990s. It received strong viewer praise for its emotional depth and lead performance. The project faced certification delays for three years and was released on July 3 after the Central Board of Film Certification sought numerous edits. A Bombay High Court challenge was later dropped. The film was also removed from a Toronto International Film Festival screening. Khalra, born in 1952, was a bank worker turned activist who uncovered records of secret cremations linked to police actions amid militancy. His efforts drew attention to alleged abuses following major events in the decade.
