A former senior engineering manager at Google of Indian origin was fatally shot and her adult son seriously wounded during a domestic incident at their Cobb County, Georgia residence. The event occurred on Tuesday evening, according to local reports. Authorities arrested the woman’s husband and filed multiple felony charges, including murder.

The victim, identified as 57-year-old Sheetal Wrzesien, had more than twenty years of experience in technology and held leadership roles at major firms. Officers arrived at the Laurel Creek Trail address near Smyrna shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.

Responders discovered the couple’s 23-year-old son, Jason Wrzesien, outside with severe gunshot wounds. Inside, they found Sheetal Wrzesien, who had sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police took 56-year-old Kirk B. Wrzesien into custody at the home without further incident. He remains held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

A neighbor described the suspect as a friendly and sociable resident who often tended to his yard. Authorities stated the shooting resulted from an escalating domestic dispute.

Court records show the husband faces five felony counts: one for murder, two for aggravated assault involving a firearm, and two for possessing a weapon during a felony. The son underwent emergency surgery at a nearby hospital, though his condition has not been updated publicly.

Wrzesien earned a computer science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994. At the time of the incident she served as Senior Director at GoTo Foods and previously led engineering and operations teams at Google focused on data governance and customer systems. She also advised on marketing technology for the Android division and contributed to digital projects for major retailers. She had served on an academic advisory board at Georgia Tech and supported initiatives to increase participation of women in STEM fields. Wrzesien spent her childhood in England, India and Ghana before moving to the United States.
