Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk, has taken a prominent public role after he was moved from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital during his hunger strike. Previously staying out of the spotlight, Angmo addressed supporters and media over the weekend, questioning the circumstances of the transfer and pledging to continue the protest if needed. She stated she would represent her husband in the march if he could not join. Angmo objected to any treatment without family consent and posted updates from the hospital criticizing visitor restrictions and lack of transparency. Delhi Police said the move followed court directions and medical advice. Wangchuk began the strike on June 28 demanding the education minister’s resignation over exam irregularities including NEET issues. Angmo, a social entrepreneur and co-founder of the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives in Ladakh, has supported him in prior legal matters. Born in Odisha, she studied physics and business before working in the corporate sector abroad and launching ventures in India.
