To protect the academic setting, Goa’s Directorate of Education has directed all state educational institutions to secure prior written permission before allowing any external person, group or organisation to hold seminars, lectures or student interactions. The order followed a report from North Goa police to the District Magistrate about activities of the Students Islamic Organisation of India. A July 6 circular noted concerns that the group’s ideological influence and events could be viewed as anti-social or anti-national, urging vigilance to avoid risks to national security and communal harmony.
