The India Meteorological Department reports that heatwave conditions should ease over much of northwest India. However, a new alert warns of hot and humid weather expected in several northeastern states from July 2 to 4. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may face these conditions for three days following recent monsoon rains. The department’s seven-day forecast map indicates no heatwave warnings for most of the country on Wednesday. A yellow alert for awareness covers parts of the Northeast starting July 2 and lasting until July 4, with improvement likely on July 5 and 6. The remainder of India stays under a green no-warning status throughout the period.
