On Sunday, Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, outlined a strategy combining diplomatic openness with heightened military vigilance amid strains with the United States. During a broadcast speech, he stated that Iran had achieved battlefield successes and is now ready to engage in talks from a strengthened stance.
However, he cautioned that any aggressive move would prompt a robust retaliation. ‘We stand fully ready — should they commit even a minor error, our response will be overwhelming,’ Ghalibaf declared, underscoring a firm position as truce initiatives hang in the balance.
He noted significant improvements in Iran’s offensive abilities since previous confrontations. ‘Our capabilities in attack strategies and execution during this third enforced conflict far exceed those of earlier times, as demonstrated in combat,’ he remarked.
Ghalibaf recognized the United States’ superior resources and expertise but maintained that Iran’s tactical approach had enabled it to repel stronger foes effectively.
‘We do not surpass America in military power. They clearly possess greater funding, gear, and assets, and their history of global interventions gives them more experience,’ he said.
He characterized the situation as an uneven battle, where Iran used its own preparations to overcome opponents with vast resources.
‘In this unequal fight, through our planning and readiness, we forced the adversary to retreat. They had the finances and tools but faltered in their strategy,’ he explained.
Ghalibaf highlighted what he viewed as errors in the opponents’ high-level choices. ‘They err in their strategic judgments. They misjudge our population, much like their flawed military tactics,’ he added.
Labeling Israel as ‘America’s proxy and operative in the area,’ Ghalibaf criticized Washington for prioritizing Israeli perspectives over its own declared interests.
‘The American administration professes that ‘America First’ matters, yet in reality, it places Israel ahead, basing choices on inaccurate data from Israel,’ he asserted.
Ghalibaf further alleged attempts by foes to undermine Iran’s economy, which ultimately did not succeed. ‘The opposition aimed for a government overthrow and to destabilize Iran like Venezuela to seize our oil, but they did not achieve this,’ he said.
