Following recent discussions between central government officials and Ladakh representatives that advanced with an initial understanding on major matters, the co-chairman of the Kargil Democratic Alliance has advised against excessive optimism or unwarranted negativity. Sajjad Hussain Kargili, a member of the high-powered committee conducting the negotiations, stated that no definitive agreement or specific result has been achieved yet. He explained that the process continues with further talks in progress. The alliance had submitted proposals seeking statehood and Sixth Schedule protections, and the government has provided some counter suggestions in response.
