The Meghalaya High Court on Monday upheld a lower court’s decision to grant bail to the main suspect in the killing of her husband during a honeymoon trip in the northeastern state last year. Justice W. Diengdoh rejected the state government’s plea to cancel the bail order issued on April 27. The judge noted that the arrest grounds showed a lack of careful consideration by authorities and lacked specific details on the charges. The court found no basis to use its special powers to revoke the bail. The accused, from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, was detained in June 2025 over the death of her husband, a businessman. The couple vanished while visiting Sohra in Meghalaya on May 23, and the man’s body was later recovered from a gorge. Authorities claim the woman plotted with others to murder him for money.
