The India Meteorological Department has urged fishermen to avoid the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea coasts until June 17 due to rough and hazardous sea conditions. The southwest monsoon advanced further into eastern India on Friday, covering additional parts of West Bengal, Bihar, and sections of Odisha and Jharkhand. A western disturbance brought thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated hail to northwest India along with heavy rain in some spots. This update came in an IMD statement released on June 12. While northern areas see relief, central and southern regions face ongoing heat risks. Heatwave alerts remain in place for Vidarbha until June 16, the longest duration noted. Warnings also cover Marathwada, Telangana, and West Rajasthan through June 13. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan recorded the nation’s highest temperature of 46 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
