The India Meteorological Department predicts extensive rainfall over much of India during the next week. Isolated heavy to very heavy showers are anticipated in the Northeast and southern peninsula, aiding the southwest monsoon’s continued advance.

The department states the monsoon will extend into more areas of the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Bay of Bengal over the next three to four days. Multiple weather systems, including cyclonic circulations over the Bay of Bengal, Vidarbha, Bangladesh and the Arabian Sea, are expected to boost rainfall nationwide.
