The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has finished placing all 13 heavy portal beams in Ahmedabad for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail line. This step advances construction on the 508-kilometre corridor. The Ministry of Railways aims to open the initial 47-kilometre section between Surat and Bilimora by August 2027. In Ahmedabad the 18-kilometre viaduct crosses several existing railway lines at height, requiring the portal beams for structural support.
