Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’, Seychelles’ highest award for leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development. The honour recognises his work advancing climate action, green growth and sustainable practices.
The citation highlights Modi’s ongoing focus on sustainable development, environmental protection and the Blue Economy. It also notes his support for Small Island Developing States, climate resilience, global cooperation and careful use of ocean resources, while noting stronger ties between India and Seychelles.
In response, Modi posted on X that he was humbled by the award and dedicated it to nations facing climate challenges that view environmental protection as a duty to future generations.
This marks another global recognition for Modi’s efforts in climate action and sustainable growth. In May 2026 the Food and Agriculture Organisation gave him the Agricola Medal for improving food security and sustainable farming. In 2018 he received the Seoul Peace Prize for economic progress and inclusive development, and the United Nations Champions of the Earth Award for climate leadership.
The Seychelles honour further reflects Modi’s international role in promoting environmental conservation and climate efforts.
