Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, criticized the RSS on Saturday in response to statements made by RSS leader and former BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav during a visit to the United States. Gandhi claimed that Madhav’s comments exposed the true character of the organization.

In a panel discussion held in the US on Thursday, Madhav voiced surprise over tensions in India-US relations, despite what he saw as India’s compliance with various US requests. These included adjustments to tariffs and decisions on oil imports. He noted that India had halted oil purchases from Iran and Russia amid opposition criticism, agreed to 50 percent tariffs, and accepted 18 percent tariffs in a recent trade agreement. Madhav questioned what more India could do to satisfy US expectations.
