After several days of questioning by the CBI, retired judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth were remanded to judicial custody until June 16 by a Bhopal court on Monday in connection with the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma.

The CBI produced the two accused before the court after their remand period concluded. The agency did not request further custody, leading the court to order judicial custody for both.

Sources indicated that Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh will be held separately from other prisoners at Bhopal Central Jail.

The move ends the first phase of the CBI investigation, which took over the case from Madhya Pradesh Police. During the remand, investigators examined the circumstances of Twisha’s death, events at the Bhopal residence on May 12, and various digital, forensic and physical evidence.
