The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh expressed strong concern on Friday regarding the theft from donation boxes at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It described the event as deeply distressing and called for firm measures against those involved, along with improved openness in temple operations.
In a statement from New Delhi, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale noted that the temple has become a focal point of belief for many Hindus due to long-standing dedication by devotees. The theft has hurt public sentiments, he said, and an investigation by a special team formed by the Uttar Pradesh government is underway.
Hosabale urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to treat the matter seriously and correct any management gaps. He stressed the need to preserve devotee confidence and end uncertainty through clear financial practices and ethical systems.
The RSS appealed to the community for calm and restraint during the probe, warning against attempts by divisive groups to exploit the situation. The Trust is expected to review resignations of two officials at a July 6 meeting and seek their explanations as per its rules.
