A Trinamool Congress MP stated that rebel leaders had accepted the current party leadership by contesting the 2026 West Bengal Assembly polls on the TMC symbol with nomination papers signed by chairperson Mamata Banerjee. After the Ritabrata Banerjee faction approached the Election Commission, the Mamata Banerjee-led group submitted its reply on Monday. It rejected the rival claim to the party and affirmed that All India Trinamool Congress organisational committees stay valid until 2027 under the party constitution. TMC Lok Sabha member Kalyan Banerjee told reporters the party had filed a detailed response to the representation by the rebel group. He dismissed the claim that the AITC committee and National Working Committee terms ended in 2025, noting the constitution was amended to extend terms from three years to four in 2000 and then to five years in 2006, with these changes duly conveyed to the Election Commission.
