US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he had agreed to cancel planned strikes on Iran following requests from Iranian officials and other Middle Eastern nations, after parameters for a potential agreement were reached. The proposed deal would involve reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing Iran’s nuclear program, though the pause in strikes depends on swift finalization.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump indicated the emerging agreement would require the immediate and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz along with an end to Iran’s nuclear threat. He noted that Iran and other regional countries had requested a delay in attacks once deal parameters were set. Based on this, he consented to cancel the operation for global benefit and Iran’s stability, provided a deal could be concluded rapidly.

Trump emphasized US military readiness at levels unseen since World War II. He added that Israel had committed to supporting efforts to finalize the agreement and end the five-month conflict. Israel issued no immediate public response. Tehran cautioned against any aggressive moves and vowed decisive retaliation if strikes occurred.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed these matters in calls with Turkish, Pakistani, and Saudi officials, warning of firm responses to aggression and highlighting risks of regional instability. A US official reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman contacted Trump to express concerns and seek clarification on plans. Iranian media warned that attacks on energy sites would lead to strikes on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Israel.
