A post on X has generated online discussion by claiming a man declined a job offer from Tata Consultancy Services and instead developed a rice distribution business said to produce about 25 lakh rupees in yearly revenue.

The account was posted by user Ankit Pandey, who described how his friend faced criticism for rejecting a campus placement at TCS. Many viewed the choice as unwise due to the stability of corporate employment.

The individual reportedly entered the rice trade by buying directly from farmers in several villages and states. The grain is cleaned, packed under a personal brand, and delivered to roughly 200 retail outlets.

Pandey described the business model in detail. Rice is acquired from farmers at 35 rupees per kilogram. Packaging adds 3 rupees and transport adds 2 rupees, for a total cost of 40 rupees per kilogram.

The packaged rice is sold to retailers at 50 rupees per kilogram. Retailers then sell it to customers for 55 to 57 rupees, yielding a claimed margin of 10 rupees per kilogram for the operation.

The post stated that the venture supplies about 200 quintals, or 20,000 kilograms, of rice monthly to retail partners. Based on these numbers, Pandey calculated annual earnings of roughly 25 lakh rupees.

Although the revenue figures and details in the post have not been independently confirmed, the account has renewed debate on entrepreneurship, financial risk, and alternatives to corporate careers.

One user responded that life rewards greater risk with greater profit. Another noted that owning distribution and building a supply chain can outperform a standard salary. A third emphasized the value of pursuing purpose through risk. A fourth observed that running a business requires more responsibility and that profits are harder to achieve than a corporate salary.
