Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to travel to India in September for the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. This would be his first visit since the 2020 Galwan Valley clash that strained bilateral relations. The summit is set for September 12-13 and could signal progress in restoring ties after prolonged border tensions in eastern Ladakh. Xi last visited India in October 2019. Ahead of the trip, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval may visit China for talks, with dates under discussion. A meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on border affairs is also planned soon, followed by Special Representatives talks on the boundary issue. These steps aim to maintain momentum in engagement, address Line of Actual Control disputes, and build trust. If confirmed, the visit would allow possible bilateral discussions on security, economy, and regional matters amid global challenges.
