Former Tamil Nadu BJP leader K Annamalai told the India Today Roundtable that he had left the party to start a grassroots initiative called ‘We the Leaders’. He argued that BJP decisions had grown overly focused on Delhi and that major national projects were being concentrated in Gujarat. Regarding Tamil Nadu, Annamalai called the first 100 days of Chief Minister Vijay’s TVK administration a positive change and noted its anti-corruption measures, though he said a long-term vision remained unclear. He stated that ‘We the Leaders’ plans to recruit 50 lakh volunteers before becoming a political party, prioritising local activism and social work over traditional campaign spending. Annamalai added that established Dravidian parties DMK and AIADMK would lack a future without major internal reforms and an end to dynastic practices.
