A social media influencer and beauty parlor owner was reportedly stabbed to death by her husband in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district on Friday after a family argument, police said. The man then allegedly tried to end his life with the same weapon and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The event occurred in the Harra area under Sarurpur police station, where the couple lived with their children.
Authorities stated that Nisha Chauhan, who operated a beauty parlor and shared content on Instagram, was attacked by her husband Pradeep following a disagreement about property documents.
Tensions between the pair had been present for some time. The conflict grew on Thursday over registering a recently bought property and resumed on Friday morning.
During the fight, Pradeep allegedly stabbed Nisha several times, causing fatal wounds. Their children witnessed the attack and shouted for help. One child was injured while attempting to intervene, according to police.
After the assault, the accused reportedly turned the knife on himself in a suicide attempt.
Neighbors arrived after hearing cries, found Nisha dead and Pradeep unconscious and bleeding. They contacted police and helped transport him to medical care.
Officers and forensic teams examined the scene and began an inquiry. Nisha’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Following reports of her death, some of her videos circulated online.
Circle Officer Ashutosh Kumar confirmed police received the alert around 6 a.m. He said preliminary findings showed a property-related dispute led to the attack, with one child hurt during intervention. The accused is receiving treatment while Sarurpur police pursue further action.
Investigators continue to examine the events and await the post-mortem report.
