Government officials say the changes aim to improve oversight of foreign donations and increase transparency without targeting any religion or community.
The legislation would update the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, which regulates foreign funding in India. It was tabled in the lower house on March 25 and covers rules on assets built with such funds if an organization’s registration ends or is not revived.
