A seven-year-old girl was killed in a brutal attack involving a spade in Bihar’s Supaul district on Friday, leading to local anger and residents setting the suspect’s house on fire before police restored calm.

The event occurred in Parsarma Ward No. 8 within Sadar police station area. The victim was named Preeti Kumari, daughter of Shambhu Shah.

According to relatives, Shambhu Shah was heading home after fetching milk, with Preeti walking behind holding a bottle. Near their residence, a neighbour named Raju Shah reportedly approached with a spade and struck the child multiple times, causing fatal wounds. She died at the scene.

Word of the killing spread quickly, prompting villagers to pursue the suspect and burn his home in protest. Police and officials arrived promptly, deploying forces under Sadar SDPO Rajiv Ranjan to control the situation.

Authorities arrested the suspect following an operation. Officials dispersed the crowd and restored order after several hours. The SDPO stated that the motive is under investigation, with all details being reviewed.

A forensic team examined the site and gathered evidence. The body was sent for post-mortem, while the suspect is being questioned. The probe continues, with further steps to follow based on findings.
