A woman, her lover and an associate have been arrested for the murder of her husband in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district. Police said technical evidence such as mobile phone records helped solve the case.
Sanjay Mishra of Panna district went missing on July 1. His family reported the disappearance after failing to locate him, leading Kishangarh police to search nearby forests.
Officers found Sanjay Mishra’s body in a forest near an under-construction bridge, with his motorcycle abandoned nearby. A murder case was registered after the postmortem.
Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha formed a special team that examined the scene, reviewed call records and mobile data, and questioned relatives.
The probe revealed that the victim’s wife, Anita Mishra, was in a relationship with Vinod Yadav. The pair exchanged more than 200 calls the day after the incident, raising suspicion.
Anita allegedly confessed to conspiring with Vinod Yadav and Satish Yadav to kill her husband because he obstructed their relationship. She reportedly sent him to a relative’s wedding, where the three murdered him in the forest and hid the body under the bridge.
All three were arrested. Items including the motorcycle and phones were recovered based on their statements. They were later remanded to judicial custody.
