Bengaluru: Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has forecast that teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will achieve greater success than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli by the close of his career. Sooryavanshi scored 776 runs to claim the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 and earned a place in the India T20 squad for upcoming tours of Ireland and England. Steyn called the 15-year-old an outstanding talent who already surpasses many established international players and represents a major asset for Indian cricket. He stressed the need for careful handling to protect the youngster and secure a lengthy career. Steyn highlighted Sooryavanshi’s powerful ball striking on good pitches with shorter boundaries. He suggested bowlers could unsettle him with short deliveries to create pressure. Steyn also commended Kohli’s sustained mental focus and drive at age 37. He advised bowlers to apply variations selectively rather than overuse them.
