NEW DELHI: India A’s tri-series match against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla ended in controversy after a tied game led to a Super Over played in poor light, followed by an altercation involving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The decision to continue drew questions, as visibility declined sharply. India A captain Tilak Varma pushed for a result and urged officials to proceed once scores were level. Sri Lanka A players and match referee Pradeep Jeyapragash held extended discussions before agreeing to continue. Reports indicated umpires could stop play if conditions became unsafe, yet the Super Over went ahead. Pace bowlers operated in near darkness, and players later said the ball was hard to see. India A scored nine runs in the over and lost. Sooryavanshi later clashed with Sri Lanka A players after the match. India A now need a win against Afghanistan A to stay in contention.
