Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the standout performers for India on Day 3 of the 5th Test at The Oval, as India built a commanding lead over England.  Jaiswal was on the verge of a century, while Gill remained not out, anchoring the innings with a composed knock.  The duo’s partnership was crucial in extending India’s lead to 166 runs by the close of the day.

The most surprising moment came from Akash Deep, who was promoted to No. 4 and scored a flamboyant half-century—his first in Tests—playing a vital role in India’s recovery.  His aggressive stroke play under pressure brought the team back into the game after earlier setbacks.

Despite England’s efforts, India’s dominance continued through the day. Mohammed Siraj provided a crucial breakthrough at the end of the day by dismissing Zak Crawley on the final ball, sealing a strong finish to the session and giving India a firm grip on the match.
