On Friday, Indian authorities conducted further technical discussions with Meta. The company detailed its approaches to handling official concerns about deepfakes, child sexual abuse material, and unlabeled AI-generated content on its platforms. Officials requested that Meta implement targeted actions and provide updates on outcomes. After initial sessions focused on content algorithms and regulatory compliance, the third day centered on technical explanations. Meta described its detection systems and proposed deployment methods for addressing flagged issues including recurring harmful AI material and bot activity. Authorities noted that synthetic videos often remain visible without required labels, contrary to IT guidelines. Earlier meetings involved questions on Instagram recommendations and adherence to local regulations, with Meta stating it would pursue ongoing efforts to resolve identified problems. The government intends to monitor sustained improvements. Meta representatives met ministers and secretaries this week following restrictions on a prime ministerial post.
