Samsung holds a prominent position in India’s smartphone market and ranks among leading global brands, renowned for its innovative products like the Galaxy Z Fold series. The company’s S series targets high-end users with prices typically exceeding Rs. 80,000, while the Galaxy A series caters to a broader audience. This lineup includes devices starting from Rs. 11,000 up to over Rs. 55,000, making it the most varied in Samsung’s offerings.

The company recently introduced the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 in India, priced at Rs. 56,999 and Rs. 41,999 respectively. After testing these models extensively, a key question arises: Can they effectively challenge competitors from Chinese manufacturers?

Design Features of Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37: Echoing the S-Series Style

Dimensions: 161.5 x 76.8 x 6.9 mm (Galaxy A57) and 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm (Galaxy A37)

Weight: 179 grams (Galaxy A57) and 196 grams (Galaxy A37)

Protection: IP68 rating for dust and water resistance (both models)

Color Options: Awesome Navy, Awesome Icyblue, Awesome Lilac (Galaxy A57); Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, Awesome Graygreen (Galaxy A37)

The Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 share a similar overall design, with minor variations in size. The Galaxy A57 is marginally slimmer and lighter than the Galaxy A37. The added weight in the latter is noticeable during handling, though neither feels overly heavy compared to peers in their price segments. Both are also thinner than some alternatives from Chinese brands.

These models incorporate design elements reminiscent of Samsung’s S series, featuring a glass back and aluminum frame. From the front, they resemble earlier versions, reflecting the brand’s approach of maintaining successful designs to build identity. On the rear, a subtle update aligns the triple-camera arrangement with that of the premium Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The cameras are set in a pill-shaped housing with distinct lenses, enhancing the premium appearance. The flat, shiny back panels are visually appealing, and the aluminum frame includes a raised section for the power and volume buttons, improving both aesthetics and usability.

USB Type-C ports are positioned in the standard location on both devices.

Despite their size, the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 support comfortable single-handed use. Reaching the top screen corners may require adjustment, but buttons remain accessible. Their slim and lightweight build allows extended holding without discomfort, ideal for browsing social media videos.

Each model comes in three color variants. The Galaxy A57 offers Awesome Navy, Awesome Icyblue, and Awesome Lilac, while the Galaxy A37 provides Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, and Awesome Graygreen. The reviewed units were in Navy and Lavender, both attractive, with the Lavender standing out for its subtle tone.

The Navy version of the Galaxy A57 appears nearly black. However, a drawback is that both phones attract fingerprints easily, especially the Galaxy A57’s Navy shade, where marks are prominent and difficult to clean, making the device look soiled quickly.

This issue may not affect users who apply cases, but those preferring a bare device might find it frustrating.

Display Quality of Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37: Meets Expectations

Screen Size: 6.7 inches

Display Type: Super AMOLED Plus (Galaxy A57) / Super AMOLED (Galaxy A37)

Resolution: Full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) (both)

Refresh Rate: Up to 120Hz

Both the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 feature 6.7-inch Full-HD+ displays with resolutions of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and refresh rates reaching 120Hz. The Galaxy A57 includes a Super AMOLED Plus panel.
