A drone attack by Iran on the Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait resulted in injuries to 15 U.S. service members, according to two American officials speaking to CBS News. Most of those affected have resumed their duties, one official noted. Since the start of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, a total of 373 U.S. troops have been wounded, including 330 who have returned to service and five who are still in serious condition, as reported by a U.S. Central Command representative to the same news outlet.
A representative from Iran’s primary joint military authority described Trump’s warnings as unrealistic. In a statement reported by state media and cited by Al Jazeera, the official from Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that such warnings cannot compensate for the U.S.’s setbacks and embarrassments in the area. AFP reported that Iran’s military views Trump’s bold statements about the conflict as ineffective in deterring their forces, after the U.S. leader reiterated plans to destroy Iranian facilities on Monday.
The Iranian military asserted that the U.S. president’s aggressive and unfounded warnings have no impact on the ongoing aggressive actions by Islamic fighters against American and Israeli adversaries. Additionally, four Iranian officers died in Isfahan province during an effort to repel incoming U.S. planes, as per the semi-official Fars news agency. The military indicated that the officers confronted enemy jets, helicopters, armed unmanned vehicles, and support planes in the Mahyar region of Isfahan before being struck.
Trump’s proposals to extensively bomb civilian structures in Iran create a challenging situation for U.S. military leaders: either defy commands or participate in potential violations of international law. This issue demands immediate attention within the U.S. command structure. In a strongly worded message, Trump established a deadline of 8 p.m. Washington time on Tuesday for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or face widespread destruction of power facilities and bridges. He posted this on his Truth Social platform.
