Israel carried out more than 120 airstrikes across Lebanon on Tuesday, marking one of the most intense bombing days in recent weeks, according to Lebanese security sources. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that military operations inside the country were expanding. The raids placed additional pressure on a ceasefire declared on 16 April intended to end clashes between Israel and Hezbollah. Iran accused the United States of breaching a separate truce through strikes in southern Iran. Lebanon’s health ministry reported 31 deaths and 40 injuries from the strikes, with 14 fatalities recorded in the southern town of Burj al-Shamali, including two children and three women. Netanyahu said forces were securing a buffer zone to shield northern communities. Hezbollah reported using drones, rockets and artillery against advancing Israeli units near Zawtar al-Sharqiya. On Monday Netanyahu announced intensified ground operations to seize strategic locations. Iran condemned recent U.S. attacks on missile sites and mining efforts in the Strait of Hormuz as violations but kept peace talks open with mediation from Pakistan and Qatar. President Donald Trump is scheduled to convene a cabinet meeting on Wednesday focused on Iran. U.S. Central Command denied claims of resumed naval escorts in the strait. Oil prices climbed above 100 dollars per barrel. In Gaza, the Israeli military said it had killed a Hamas commander in an airstrike.
