Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has shared his sympathies over the passing of celebrated film vocalist Asha Bhosle, recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and Maharashtra Bhushan honors.
In his statement, the Governor noted:
‘Asha Bhosle ranked among India’s most skilled and flexible film singers. Her captivating vocals, proficiency across various musical styles, and broad impact on Indian music have created a lasting legacy for fans in India and worldwide.
Throughout a professional journey of nearly 80 years, she enhanced India’s cultural heritage with countless enduring tracks in diverse languages and forms.
Her skill, dedication, and expressiveness will keep motivating artists and enthusiasts.
Her well-known track ‘Jo Bhi Hai Bus Yehi Ek Pal Hai’ embodied her approach to life.
The loss of Asha Ji marks a profound setback for the music realm, especially in Maharashtra.
Asha Ji shared a personal link with our family via her marriage to R.D. Burman.
Representing Maharashtra’s residents and myself, I offer respects to the departed Asha Ji and extend sincere sympathies to her grieving relatives, supporters, and the music community.’
