In daytime, land warms more quickly than the ocean, drawing cooler air inland from the sea. At night, the land cools faster, causing air to move back toward the ocean. This pattern is known as the sea-land breeze.

According to a recent study published in Nature Climate Change, rising ocean temperatures are diminishing these breezes near major coastal cities. Urban experts in various regions view these winds as vital for reducing heat in cities and enhancing air quality, making such areas more habitable.
