A female staff member at the Nashik branch of a major IT services company has reported experiencing extended sexual harassment, including stalking, unwanted physical contact, and offensive comments about her faith, from five coworkers. This information comes from a police report obtained by a news outlet.
The woman started her position as an associate on June 20, 2025, and began her training four days later under two instructors. She claims that a team leader from the loans section, who had no official involvement in the training, often entered the room and made personal, insinuating comments.
She recounted instances where he inquired about her managing alone while her husband was away, offering assistance in a suggestive way. Both the team leader and one instructor reportedly questioned her marriage type and implied details about her private life. The team leader allegedly nicknamed her ‘Player’ and used it regularly at work.
He also supposedly said that if he were her spouse, he would not leave her unattended, while standing too close.
After training ended, she transitioned to practical work in September 2025 and then to full duties. During this time, an associate from a different team began approaching her often and sitting next to her uninvited.
She accused him of making repeated physical advances, such as touching her body, attempting to hold her hand, or placing his hand on her thigh or shoulder. She described one incident where he embraced her against her will.
Despite knowing she was married, he allegedly propositioned her, claiming to be more attractive than her husband and suggesting secretive outings. He reportedly offered to satisfy any physical desires during breaks and made close contact.
Additionally, she alleged he made derogatory statements about her religion, suggesting that women in her faith face assault for not wearing certain attire and insulting deities, which offended her beliefs.
In January 2026, during a festival, he commented on her traditional outfit, noting its design and implying exposure if altered.
Another colleague was accused of visiting her workstation daily, despite not being on her team, bringing snacks and using innuendos while staring inappropriately. She claimed he got too close, touched her wrongly, and during after-hours work guidance, pressed his face against hers and caressed her arm and thigh.
On a March 2026 festival day, the team leader allegedly tugged her clothing from behind and smiled suggestively when she turned.
A fifth individual reportedly circled her repeatedly that day, gazing improperly. Several of the men allegedly commented on her looks, attributing her marriage to her appearance.
These events took place from June 2025 to March 2026 at the company’s office on Ashoka Marg in Nashik. She delayed reporting due to job security concerns.
She has lodged a formal complaint against the five men for sexual harassment, stalking, improper touching, and offending religious feelings.
This case contributes to ongoing issues at the firm’s Nashik facility. A national women’s rights body has formed an investigative team to examine harassment claims, including severe accusations like assault and coerced religious changes affecting female workers.
The company stated it maintains a strict policy against harassment and has suspended the implicated employees during the investigation.
