The 22-year-old Spanish player, who has won seven Grand Slam titles, sustained the injury during the opening round of the Barcelona Open this month and subsequently pulled out of the event. Medical scans revealed the problem was worse than expected, leading him to also withdraw from the Madrid Open. He announced he would not participate in the Rome Masters tournament either.
