A powerful dust storm struck Rajasthan’s Churu district on Saturday afternoon, filling the sky with sand and turning daylight into darkness. Dramatic footage captured thick clouds of dust swallowing homes and sharply reducing visibility.

The storm hit around 2 pm, limiting sight to just a few meters in areas including Churu and Sardarshahar. Vehicles slowed or stopped, with drivers turning on headlights to move through the dense cloud.

Winds reached nearly 70 kmph and the storm lasted about half an hour. Markets saw sudden disorder as people hurried indoors to avoid the gusts and swirling dust.

Rain followed in several parts of the district, easing the prior heat. Weather officials reported a temperature drop of up to 8 degrees Celsius from the storm and rain. Concerns emerged over possible damage to trees, crops and power lines.
