Netflix’s courtroom drama Ikka, starring Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, will premiere on July 10, the streaming service announced. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the film brings the two actors together for the first time in nearly thirty years after their last collaboration in the 1997 film Border. In the story, Deol portrays a prominent lawyer who must defend a man from his past, played by Khanna, in a case that tests his principles and family ties. Tillotama Shome appears as the opposing public prosecutor, while Dia Mirza plays Deol’s wife. The project marks Deol’s first streaming role and his return to a legal character after thirty-three years. Malhotra noted that the subject had interested him for years, drawn by its mix of personal relationships and questions of justice. Netflix India Vice President Monika Shergill described the film as a gripping drama with high stakes and moral complexity. The cast also includes Sanjeeda Shaikh, Shishir Sharma and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor. The film is produced by Alchemy Films.
