Naregal village in Haveri district, where eight people were injured in a group clash on Monday, is gradually returning to normal under tight police security. Superintendent of Police Yashodha Vantagodi said no arrests have been made so far and the probe continues. Several BJP leaders, including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and MP Basavaraj Bommai, criticised the state government for allegedly shielding those responsible for disturbing peace. State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra, after visiting the injured at Haveri district hospital, accused police of acting on behalf of the ruling party and claimed its policies prevent Hindus from celebrating festivals safely.
