A claimed screenshot of a Snapchat chat reportedly involving Siya Goyal, the 20-year-old woman charged in the death of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, has appeared online and introduced new elements to the inquiry. The exchange is said to date from May 25, roughly three weeks before the 26-year-old businessman was allegedly pushed from a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Pune. Authorities state that Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary, 22, carried out the act. Officers are now checking the screenshot’s validity as part of the murder probe. The message reportedly refers to booking flight tickets for a wedding that would never occur. In it, Goyal is said to have asked a friend for both sides of an Aadhaar card for the tickets. The friend later replied that the card had already been sent via WhatsApp. Investigators are assessing whether the booking formed part of a plan to mislead or create a false story after the death. It remains unclear if the friend knew of any scheme. Police have also identified a third person, a classmate of Chaudhary, who allegedly knew of the plan; that individual’s role is under review. Agarwal and Goyal had become engaged earlier this year and planned to marry in November in Udaipur. Two special flights had been arranged for guests. Those plans ended on June 18 when Agarwal died at the fort. Authorities continue to review phone records and messages between Goyal and Chaudhary. After police custody ended on Friday, both suspects were placed in 14 days of judicial custody. Officers had sought longer detention, citing coded language in the chats and the recent recovery of a second phone belonging to Goyal. Data from the devices has only lately been obtained, and further joint questioning is required to interpret the exchanges.
