Mahant Dinendra Das Maharaj, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, backed the government’s response to the alleged embezzlement of Ram Mandir donations on Sunday. He described the measures as suitable during an interview with ANI. Das stated that the administration acted properly and that any court decision would be correct. He credited the Chief Minister with ensuring the suspects were apprehended. He urged severe penalties for those convicted and noted that ongoing official efforts would deter future thefts. Das added that imprisonment or even capital punishment would be justified, calling the theft a serious offense. He confirmed that temple rituals continue without disruption and that donation processes now show full transparency. An SIT investigation is underway after an FIR was filed on 25 June under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Eight individuals have been arrested. The probe followed claims by a former legislator that several crore rupees were misappropriated. The trust requested the inquiry, and two senior trust figures later resigned to support a fair investigation. The state government recently extended the SIT’s deadline by 15 days. Investigators are also examining asset discrepancies linked to the accused.
