The Vishva Hindu Parishad has sent a letter to Ayodhya police requesting an examination of statements by opposition figures, including Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, regarding alleged theft of offerings at the Ram temple. The group wants authorities to question the individuals about the basis, origins and evidence behind their assertions. As an RSS affiliate, the VHP also called for measures if the remarks prove baseless and aimed at stirring animosity. The letter, addressed to a deputy superintendent of police on July 4, noted that the leaders had shared detailed figures, such as sums over Rs 20,000 crore, across media outlets. It referenced specific comments by Vadra on possible involvement of senior figures in disabling cameras and diverting funds, and by Kejriwal on missing cash, jewellery and other items worth around Rs 200 crore. Similar references were made to remarks by Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. The VHP argued that summoning the leaders would aid a thorough investigation by clarifying their sources and supporting materials, or reveal any lack thereof.
