One person died and more than 100 were hurt in a stampede during the Rath Yatra festival in Puri, Odisha. Approximately one million devotees assembled near the chariots carrying the deities Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. The crush happened after barriers were removed, prompting a rush toward the chariot at the procession’s start. Between 50 and 55 individuals remain hospitalized, including one in serious condition.
