Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari may pursue a civil case against Meta Platforms, X Corp, Google LLC and others regarding allegedly defamatory AI-generated deepfake videos and altered digital material tied to the ethanol-blended fuel debate, the Bombay High Court decided on Monday.
The case requests removal of content that Gadkari claims wrongly links him to the Ethanol Blended Petrol programme and the E20 initiative. His petition states both programmes fall solely under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, leaving him with no involvement.
Justice Abhay Ahuja permitted Gadkari, through advocate Sandeep S. Ladda, to file the suit at the Bombay High Court. The court will consider his request for interim measures, such as a temporary injunction, on a future date.
