The Delhi High Court is set to hear on Monday the Central Bureau of Investigation’s challenge to a trial court order that discharged AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and 21 others in the liquor policy case. Justice Manoj Jain will also consider separate applications by the former Delhi Chief Minister and his deputy to dismiss the CBI revision petition. In filings made on August 13, the leaders accused the agency of acting with unusual speed and without proper review of the over 500-page discharge judgment. They noted the petition was submitted within four hours of the order and argued the trial court had reviewed the case for more than three months. The CBI described the discharge as illegal and flawed, claiming the lower court conducted a mini-trial and selectively assessed evidence. On February 27 the trial court had cleared all accused, finding the prosecution case unsustainable.
