The BBC has published its annual salary report, showing pay rises for several British Asian presenters over the past year.

Former Radio 2 breakfast host Scott Mills topped the overall list with earnings of around £745,000. He left the corporation earlier in 2026 after facing accusations of historical sexual offences. Mills cooperated with police but was not charged.

Naga Munchetty led British Asian presenters, receiving between £360,000 and £364,999, an increase of £5,000 from the previous year. Her pay covers breakfast television and radio work.

This amount is £170,000 higher than co-host Charlie Stayt, who remains in the £190,000 to £194,999 range.

Reeta Chakrabarti gained £25,000, moving into the £325,000 to £329,999 bracket for her BBC News presenting role.

Amol Rajan’s salary rose to the £320,000 to £324,999 band. He presents Radio 4’s Today programme but announced his departure early in 2026. He also hosts University Challenge and will appear on Celebrity Traitors.

Gary Lineker, long the highest earner, left the BBC last summer after posting an Instagram reel with an antisemitic illustration, for which he apologised. His earnings fell sharply following his exit.

Other major names such as Claudia Winkleman do not appear because their programmes are made by BBC Studios or independent companies.

The report also shows TV licences fell by 539,000 last year, a two-million drop over five years from 25.3 million in 2020-21 to 23.3 million.

The list covers British Asian presenters earning more than £178,000.
